From Rocks to Trees

After the normal Winter doldrums, coupled with a year of the Pandemic and political chaos, many of us want to get outside as the weather warms and improves.  With the hoped for future arrival of Spring in a few weeks, I decided to switch - for a while - to "Life Sciences" outside of Geology, partially for my own reasons.

During this time, I still intend to intersperse Geology, Ecology, (and related subjects) and Ecology, videos with random periods of notes and reflections.

A few years ago, I participated in a couple of winter-time Tree Surveys, while working as a Land Survey Assistant.  It was challenging, but rewarding to learn the skill of Tree ID without using leaves.

There will be more of Tom Wessels lectures starting on March 3rd.  Some of what he is discussing may be more pertinent to New England forests, but some of the general terms can apply to Southeastern forests.
